Why This Place Matters
The sacred mound where Karna, the tragic hero of Mahabharata, performed his daily Surya (Sun God) worship. This site represents sacrifice, loyalty, and the complex nature of dharma. Karna story teaches that nobility of character transcends birth.
Mahabharata Connection
Here, the great warrior Karna performed Surya Puja every morning without fail. It was during these prayers that Lord Indra disguised as a Brahmin came and asked for Karna protective armor (Kavach) and earrings (Kundal) as charity. Despite knowing it would cost him his life, Karna gave them away, demonstrating the highest form of Dana (charity).
